Join Mark Hix for unique and bespoke foraging experience in Dorset, complete with a home-cooked meal at his Charmouth home.

The Hix & Wild experiences are available all year round for groups of eight guests and ideal for corporate events and team building, special events or simply an informative fun day out with friends. Mark offers ticketed events on specific dates, so you can come on your own or with a guest, as well as private events for 8 people on a date of your choosing (depending on availability).

Learning to forage gets people doing what was completely normal for our ancestors – engaging with surroundings and seasons to find really nutritious and delicious foods.

Naturally, Mark will be creating each bespoke event around the seasons. Local forager Nick Cadwell will be co-hosting the event with Mark, so you can expect to find the best spots for wild food and learn what to look for.

In spring, guests can expect to forage for an array of spring greens, herbs and salads, summer will uncover the world of coastal plants and seaweeds, with wild mushrooms being the focus for autumn.

How it works...

Mark will start the day with a coffee and snack at his home in Charmouth before travelling to a local spot where Mark and Nick will educate you on the wild edible foods that are growing beneath your feet.

After a morning of foraging, Mark will serve a light picnic lunch before heading off to another location for an afternoon of more foraging.

After some free time to freshen up at your accommodation, you will head back to Mark’s home to enjoy a 6-course evening meal featuring your foraged fayre, paired with Mark’s own wines from Devon and Portugal, prepared and cooked for you at his Kitchen Table.

What's on the menu?

Mark creates a bespoke menu for every event, based around the wild ingredients you have foraged. All dietaries will be catered for – just let us know your requirements when you book so that Mark can create an appropriate menu for you and your guests.

Ticketed events are priced at £625 per person.

Private events are priced at £5000. Experiences are available for 8 guests.

Price includes all food and drink and goody bag. Excludes accommodation but we can make recommendations on request.

Upon booking you will be sent a secure link to pay online. Once the date is confirmed and paid for the date is non-changeable and the event will be non-refundable.
