A 3-Night Culinary Retreat at Tresillian House
This May, Tresillian House will play host to an intimate 3-night gastronomic retreat led by Mark and Richard Bertinet. Limited to just 14 guests, the experience blends masterclasses, seasonal feasting, and the natural beauty of Cornwall into a relaxed yet deeply immersive long weekend.
Set against the backdrop of the Cornish countryside, just ten minutes from the coast, the retreat is designed as a celebration of food and countryside – with foraging, baking, seasonal meals and fireside cocktails. Manager, Jonny Jeffery, worked with Mark for many years as his General Manager of his first two HIX restaurants, and created the Hix Fix cocktail, which will most definitely be on the menu.
Set within its own private grounds, Tresillian House offers an elegant and comfortable base for the weekend. Guests will stay in beautifully appointed rooms and enjoy full use of the grounds throughout their stay, with space to wander, relax and truly switch off. From the walled garden to the surrounding grounds, Tresillian House is as much a part of the experience as the food itself — offering privacy, calm and a sense of escape that underpins the intimacy and luxury of the retreat.
Day 1
Guests arrive at Tresillian House on Thursday afternoon and welcomed by the hosts with a relaxed introduction to the weekend, followed by pre-dinner cocktails and a two-course supper with wine, cooked by Tresillian House’s very own host Jonny Jeffery.
Day 2
Friday unfolds at an unhurried pace, beginning with brunch before a guided foraging walk and time in the walled garden and grounds with Mark and Richard. After free time to explore or unwind, guests gather for an afternoon baking masterclass led by Richard Bertinet, before the day ends with a convivial, BBQ-style dinner hosted by Mark and Richard, celebrating local produce and cooking over fire.
Day 3
Saturday begins with brunch and a collaborative masterclass with Richard and Mark, followed by a free afternoon for activities of your choice be it walking the stunning coastal path, swimming, spa treatments or quiet relaxation. The weekend draws to a close with pre-dinner cocktails and a final dinner cooked by the hosts, before a last breakfast is served on Sunday morning ahead of a 10am departure.
Meals across the weekend will be relaxed, generous and led by the landscape and sea. Guests can expect seasonal cooking rooted in Cornwall, with dishes shaped by foraged ingredients, produce from the walled garden, local fish, seafood and wild deer.
Masterclasses across the weekend unfold as relaxed demonstrations led by Mark and Richard, to include making flatbreads with spring produce, Cornish hog’s pudding, and local seafood. The sessions are informal and engaging, designed to inspire curiosity and conversation.
This exclusive retreat offers a rare opportunity to eat and learn alongside two of Britain’s most renowned chefs in an informal, luxurious setting — a true celebration of Cornwall and cookery.
