Following the success of last year’s event, Mark Hix and Mitch Tonks will be joining forces again for a collaborative event in Portugal this autumn.

Quinta de La Rosa will be hosting the two-night experience from the 26th and 28th November
at their winery in the stunning Douro Valley.

15 years ago, Mark and Mitch visited the vineyard to meet owner Sophia Bergqvist, a 6th generation port and winemaker. After a long lunch they came up with a plan for their own wine called ‘Tonnix’ (Tonks and Hix). Now that’s a pretty productive lunch! Mark asked his friend Tracey Emin to design the label, and here we are, still drinking Tonnix over 15 years later.

The price of £900 per person includes 2 nights bed and breakfast in a double room (suite upgrades available at an additional cost), meals both nights with wine pairing, and a winery tour and tasting with the Bergqvist family.

What to expect...

Day One

Once you’ve checked in on 26th November, enjoyed the afternoon in the Douro Valley and the panoramic views from your accommodation, you are invited to join your hosts for an aperitif followed by a traditional Portuguese feast paired with La Rosa wine in the stunning, yet rustic setting, of the barrel room.

Tour and Tasting...

Day Two

After breakfast on 27th November there will be a tour of the vineyard and wine tasting with Sophia, Phillip or Kit Bergvist, so you can hear all about the traditional processes they use to produce their wine and port and see the grapes on the terraced vines.

Day Two

After the wine tasting you have the rest of the day to explore or relax. Perhaps visit Pinhão for some lunch, enjoy a boat trip along the Douro if the weather is on side, or simply relax at the hotel and enjoy the incredible views.

Day Two

That night there will be a 4-course meal with wine curated by Mark and Mitch. The chefs will be mingling with everyone throughout the evening too, so there will be plenty of time to chat.

The 28th is check-out day, so after breakfast you can either make your way home, or head into Porto to continue your mini break for the weekend.

Bookings can only be made directly with Quinta de la Rosa via this form. You will be contacted by the team within 48 hours to confirm if your enquiry has been successful. If you are booked on to the event, you will receive a payment link from Quinta de la Rosa for £900 per person (charged in Euro). This must be paid within 24 hours to confirm your booking.

Prices are based on 2 person occupancy per room. Upgrades will be offered if available for an additional price. Price includes 2 nights accommodation and breakfast, 2 evening meals with wine, tour and tasting. Lunch is not included but you may wish to dine in the restaurant on site, or dine locally in the town during the daytime.

Please note that the event is non-refundable and non-exchangeable to a different date (you may, however, change the names of the attendees if you are unable to attend). Should you be unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible and we will endeavour to resell the places through our waiting list. Should we be able to fill the place, you will receive a refund.

Arrangement and payment of transport to and from the venue is the responsibility of the ticket holder.

If the event is fully booked we will hold a wait list. Once the wait list is full we are unable to take any more enquiries.
